What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Connection Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

One True God

We believe in one God, who has eternally expressed himself in three persons:  Father, Son ,and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4Isaiah 43:10,11Matthew 28:19Luke 3:22

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God that communicates His saving message, and is our infallible and reliable authority in all matters related to faith and Christian living.
(2 Timothy 3:15-171 Thessalonians 2:132 Peter 1:21)

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23Luke 1:31,35), in His sinless life (Hebrews 7:261 Peter 2:22), in His miracles (Acts 2:2210:38), in His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:32 Corinthians 5:21), in His bodily resurrection (Matthew 28:6Luke 24:391 Corinthians 15:4), in His ascension to the Father (Acts 1:9,112:33Philippians 2:9-11Hebrews 1:3), and in His personal, future return to this earth. (Zechariah 14:5Matthew 24:27,30Revelation 1:719:11-1420:1-6

The Fall of Mankind

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time. We believe that all humankind struggles with this downward pull.
(Genesis 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19)

Salvation

We believe the love and grace of God is extended to every person in the provision Jesus Christ made in His death and resurrection.  By turning from our own selfishness and trusting Jesus Christ, we experience a new life, being freed from the old patterns of self-destructive acts called sin.  (Luke 24:47; John 3:3;  Romans 10:13-15;  Ephesians 2:8Titus 2:11; 3:5-7)

We believe that unless we experience God’s help and salvation through a faith commitment to Jesus Christ, our future is one of eternal separation from God and all that is good.

Sanctification

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God.
(Romans 12:1,2;1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12)

The Scriptures teach a life of "holiness without which no man shall see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14)  By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey the command: "Be ye holy, for I am holy."  (1 Peter 1:15,16)

Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, and by the faith reckoning daily upon the fact of that union, and by offering every faculty continually to the dominion of the Holy Spirit.
(Romans 6:1-11 ;Romans 6:13 ;Romans 8:1,2 ;Romans 8:13)

The Church

The Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, which are written in heaven.  (Ephesians 1:22,23; Ephesians 2:22;
Hebrews 12:23)

Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to eternal separation from God.  Each individual is accountable and is endowed with the power of choice. We believe the love and grace of God is extended to every person in the provision Jesus Christ made in His death and resurrection.  By turning from our own selfishness and trusting Jesus Christ, we experience a new life, being freed from the old patterns of self-destructive acts called sin.
(Luke 24:47John 3:3Romans 10:13-15Ephesians 2:8;  Titus 2:113:5-7)

We believe that unless we experience God’s help and salvation through a faith commitment to Jesus Christ, our future is one of eternal separation from God and all that is good.
